Sporting Regulations

  5. Type Of Event: 402 Metres Of Straight Line Drag (Acceleration)

  6. Insurance:

    A third party public liability insurance will be self-arranged by the organiser.

      All events will be held at Sepang International Circuit.

  10. Eligibility Of Competitors

    • Must possess a valid driving license.
    • Must be 18 years old and above.
    • Must be a member of the Sepang Circuit Motorsport Club.

  11. General Eligibility of Vehicles

    • Cars must be in good condition regarding safety.
    • Cars must be of complete shape and figure of the respective model.
    • All cars must pass scrutineering check.

      Please refer to the technical regulations for further details.

  12. Categories

    • Category A: Open
    • Category B: 2WD Forced Induction
    • Category C: 2WD Normally Aspirated
    • Category D: 2WD Limited
    • Category E: K-Car

  13. Points Score

    • There will be overall championship for each category, after six (6) rounds.
    • The points scoring system will be as follows:

      1st 5 points
      2nd 3 points
      3rd 2 points
      4th 1 point

    • Categories with less than ten (10) entries will not be entitled for any points.
    • Points will be accumulated from the best of five (5) out of six (6) events.
    • Competitors with the most points will be declared the winner.
    • In the event of a tie, the number of wins or highest positions in each round will determined the winner.

  14. Awards

    • Trophies and product vouchers (In terms of value) for each round will be as follows:

  •  If there are less than ten (10) entries for each category, no trophies or cash awards will be given.

Entries

  • Entry fees will be at RM150.00 per category.
  • Payment must be made in cash.
  • All entries must be sent in before 7.00pm on each of the events date.
  • The registration counter at the circuit will be operating from 5.00pm till 7.00pm.
  • Participant are allowed to participate in more than one category provided that they pay the entry fees for the respective categories and also that the vehicles comply with the technical regulations of the respective category.
  • The organiser and the promoter have the rights to refuse an entry without giving a reason for doing so.
  • The entry fees will be refunded to a non-accepted entry.
  • Entry forms must be filled up in full with indemnity and declaration form duly signed.

Vehicle Scrutineering

  • Scrutineering for every car will be held for each car once the competitors completed their entry.
  • Helmet(s) must be brought over to the scrutineering area for checking.
  • Numbering & stickers (Provided by the organiser or Promoter) on the car must be completed in order to pass the scrutineering.

Briefing

  • All competitors must attend a compulsory briefing before taking part in the event.
  • The time and venue of the briefing will be informed in the ASR for each event.

 Format of Drag Battle

  • All competitors will be given one (1) trial run.
  • All competitors will compete in a qualifying session, consisting of cars running in pairs simultaneously in two (2) runs in which the times of 8 fastest cars will be in the quarter final.
  • Eight (8) fastest car will compete in the quarter final following the table below:

    The 1st fastest car will be paired up with the
    5th fastest car
    The 2nd fastest car will be paired up with the 6th fastest car
    The 3rd fastest car will be paired up with the 7th fastest car
    The 4th fastest car will be paired up with the
    8th fastest car

  • Four (4) fastest car will compete in the semi final following the table below:

    The 1st fastest car will be paired up with the
    3rd fastest car
    The 2nd fastest car will be paired up with the
    4th fastest car

  • The fastest two (2) cars will be in final.
  • If there is a need for a re-run due to unavoidable circumstances of the particular pairing, the competitor must do so if they wish to continue in the event.
  • No protest or complain will be entertained.

Starting Procedure

  • A “Christmas Tree” light system will be used.
  • Starting sequence: Cars will proceed slowly to the start line.
  • There will be two (2) yellow lights on the top of the tree. When the first light comes on, it means that your front tyres have passed the pre-stage line. Go forward slowly until another couple of inches until the second light comes on. At this point, you are staged.
  • Once the other competitor completed his staging, the race will soon begin. The starter will give about five (5) seconds before starting the lights.
  • Three (3) amber lights will flash half a second apart and the green light will flash.
  • Any car moving before the green lights flashes will be considered to have jumped the start. The timing equipment will detect this.
  • The participant will be disqualified for the particular run only if it’s still in the qualifying session.
  • If the participant to have jumped the start during the quarter final, semi final and the final, he or she will be disqualified from the event.
  • No protest or complain will be entertained on this matter.

Organiser and Promoter Rights

  • The Organiser and Promoter reserved the right to change the dates and times of the race, postpone, abandon or amalgamate the competition due to not receiving more than ten (10) entries in each category.
  • In the event of abandonment or cancellation of the whole meeting, entry fees will be refunded in full.
  • Distribute awards at their discretion due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Exclude any vehicle whose appearance, condition and performance are not of standard appropriate for the competition.
  • Refuse an entry without giving reason unless the competitor has scored points in previous rounds.
  • The Organiser and Promoter also have the rights to stop the competition due to unavoidable circumstances.
  • Competitors, entrants or any organisation will have no right to claim against the Organiser or Promoter for any expenses incurred or losses suffered through the exercising of these rights by the Organiser or the Promoter.

* Any matters not provided in this Sporting Regulations will be referred to the National Competition Rules (NCR) of the AAM.
